""Victim of Iphone""
Pros: Stylish, Easy to use, Good Resolution, Good Graphics.
Cons: This is not an Ipod, unleash the features of a smart phone on it. It seems like they bit more then they could bite!
Summary: Apple tricks Me into buying their phone, by creating all this hype! Being secretive with it, not allowing the phone to even be reviewed before sale date, doesnt help customers gain trust in apple.
Im not going to complain about waiting in line, and loosing 10% for restocking fee, cause I knew it up frond and willingly took a chance. But as for device itself, Very disappointed! Go apple! Stick with the IPods, that is your area of expertise.
- EDGE? 144kbts data in 2007??? this is a joke right? We going backwards? (2005 had faster data!)
- AT&T not a very good pick for a service provider, coverage and customer service wise.
- No Keyboard - have to concentrate 200% when typing. Can't go by feel, can't text and drive. (sure try using 10 fingers on that keyboard! LOL Steve Jobs himself tripped up during the demo and used an excuse If I can type today and you think he was using the item for the first time? LOL ok&)
- Not compatible with business account?? Lame AT&T, can't even support their current customers.
- Nice Screen - don't touch it while eating! Just dont touch it at all&
- no Stereo Blue Tooth. (going backwards right?)
- Good browser? (they copied the Picsel browser, which was used for at least a year now for windows mobile phones.. works the same, full browser capability, zoom and so on..)
- No removable battery.
- No external Memory. (can't pop out the SD card, put into a random computer to transfer data, and with the internet so slow good luck emailing the data.)
- No Video, not to mention HD video streaming.
- No Video Conferencing
- Can't Send Pictures (MMS)
- No Push mail (forget syncing to exchange servers)
- No Voice Command
- Can't use Skype on Iphone for VOIP
- No Flash
- No Java
- No SDK (web 2.0 is not an SDK)
- No send via Bluetooth
- No 3rd party apps.
(You can't install Tom Tom App on it and take it around the world as a full blown GPS with an additional BlueTooth GPS reciever)

Your complaints are common among people disappointed by the iPhone that it isn't some magical "star-trek pad" or that it doesn't have all the functionality you'd expect in a laptop. If that's what you want plunk down the $1500 on one of Sony's ultra-light notebooks or on the Apple Air notebook and be happy, but don't overly criticize a revolutionary phone because it doesn't offer every technological marvel (nor did it purport to) that you desire.

what a stupid person text while driving. Go back to Microsoft where they love idiots like you. Stop using apple products.

Some say iPhone vs Smartphones is like Porsche vs Ford?
Iphone made for individuals with Class? Sure, it does it all, with class: iCrash, iHack, iBug, and iTunes is the log keeper from now on
Applying an analogy like Porsche vs Ford to iPhone and Smartphones is absolutely hideous!!!
Detach your feelings from the iPhone and use a bit of logic. (I know it's a pretty device, and captures your heart, but it doesn't mean you should marry it.)
LOGIC is your friend! - Avoid making mistakes based on feelings.
So here is how your theory is busted of Porsche vs Ford:
Porsche is a company that have been making cars since 1938. Clearly what you see out on the streets are not their first models. These are experts that have been designing cars for ever, their looks, their performance, their reliability, and that's what makes it classy!
However you can buy kit cars, and fake your way through it.
So iPhone by Apple is more like a first car by Yamaha. It's a great company, knows what they are doing with music stereo systems, guitars, pianos, even jet ski. So releasing their first car will definetly not put them into the same class where Porsche or Ferrari now is. Ehh, they will be in the same class with Ford. In fact Ford uses Yamaha engines on one of their Taurus (sho)
You know, iPhone is a first phone product by Apple, they can make computers that are used by 5% of the world, that doesn't automatically puts them in the Porsche category of phones.
They just entered the phone market, and have quite a ways to go.
Even Apple computers, they are simply not the best. Geared towards consumers, otherwise they would have served more then 5% of the world if they were the best.
But saying that, doesn't take their pretty-as* away from them. Yea they are still pretty.
So yea they are in different leagues. PC serves most of the business world and consumers: all the banks, corporation, government, military, wall street, most of the Internet. Apple? A tiny 5% most of them college students...
Smartphones (Nokia, Crackberry, Microsoft, ...)
Are phones that have been out there, did their first mistakes, and keep making mistakes developing new technology. This is the reason why they are more technically advanced then iPhone. They have more features, they can do a lot more. That's what makes them Smartphones.
I could not say that they are quite the Lamborghini, but certainly not an Escort with roll up windows.
Iphone A self proclaimed Porsche, bit more then they can chew -
Yeah, lets see you use the command line with the pop-up soft keyboard dead

1st version of any thing is a hair better then beta products.
Not to dog on iphone, but just a caution for people that didn't buy the 1st ver yet, it's full of bugs, and is not as stable or hack proof as we expected it to be.
Here are some examples to back up what i'm saying here:

I believe that says it all. -
For all the people that take every word literaly, and not able to improvise or apply it to life past what is written, I will clear things up.
1st) I dont text and drive.
If I have 15 seconds on a stoplight I will reply one handedly, still being fully in touch with my surroundings, but that cant be done with an Iphone -- Simple as that!
2nd) I knew what I was getting into.
Yes it was all over the place with all its capabilities and limitations. But Im an observer, I like to touch after I read. Who knows maybe it will be worth keeping for all the features it has? And its worth the 10% loss if I dont like it. I also saw tons of people standing in line that were being lured into it, simply out of their incompetence, thinking they are getting the best of the best out there, and for all they know it probably is the best for them. LOL
3rd) This is a review.
Here are some comments I found catchy and true:
I find it ridiculous that people try to stifle a person's right to an opinion, especially when you're gripes are not off the wall.
Good review. I didn't know there were so many Neo-Apple fascists on these boards who would rather personally attack you with insults than create a dialogue. -casualsuede
or
Small man Complex
Usually I say small man complex but in this case it is the small "i" complex. Small men usually are aggressive and offensive and I am seeing a lot of that here. Those poor ipeople are so inherently lacking confidence they can't stand any constructive criticism. -farrid
4th) Nice features
a) Waiting 2 minutes to open www.yahoo.com (forget browsing on it)
b) Mandatory you pay for the data plan with this device and yet you still cant use it as a modem for your laptop (wired or over Bluetooth) other phones? You can.
c) walking with a USB cord everywhere you go so you can get data off and on any computer from your device or the other way around.
d) EDGE I still cant believe this: UMTS: 350014000 Kbits vs EDGE: 144-200 Kbits
5th) I have a laptop, I don't need another one. New phones that are out, belive it or not, they are capable and have these features.
Apple certainly made other phone manufactures a challenge on working out better designs and stability.
I see this as a big boost in the cell phone industry, in a year we should see revolutionary designs from different companies all over.
I like apple, I use it from time to time, but sure don't like some (not all) of their users. They think they're ready to rule the world after figuring out how to eject a CD.
Same thing with this Iphone, it's shine blinds them from realizing that it's far from the most modern featured device.
(And yes I know they didnt advertize that, but COMPARING to other products out there - released, you can state the fact that it doesnt have a lot of important features that are on modern devices. If you are not familiar with these devices or features, I wont sit here educating you.)
So lets not lie to our selves saying black is actually white because it shines. Stick to the facts. And the fact that it doesnt have stereo blue tooth is not necessary a bad thing for everybody, not all people use it as IPOD, even though it is advertized as best IPOD ever made. -
Based on Serggus's response to a couple comments already, he likely never bought an iPhone. He only wanted to post a negative rating and find negative things to say about it.
"USA Today reports that early iPhone adopters are overwhelmingly happy with their iPhones.
In one of the first such studies, 90% of 200 owners said they were "extremely" or "very" satisfied with their phone. And 85% said they are "extremely" or "very" likely to recommend the device to others, says the online survey conducted and paid for by market researcher Interpret of Santa Monica, Calif. The firm surveyed 1,000 cellphone users July 6-10." -
Maybe you should have done some research before you bout the thing... Nice Moronic review...... Go buy a Treo, I heard there easy to get....

-
With all of your complaints that you have about the Iphone and everything that you want in your electronic devices, you should've bought a new laptop and a sprint internet card or an internet card with a carrier that has wireless internet fast enough for you, and just did that because that's what you really wanted. really there is NO WAY that in this day and age we can create a piece of technology that small that can do all the things that you want it to. Personally I think its weird that it doesnt have MMS but I'm not going to throw a hissy fit over it. just stick with normal phones and do the laptop thing trust me you'll be much happier....
-
its just a gorgeous "LOOKING" phone...
im so sick and tired of someone saying they had a bad experience with the iphone and many, many apple worshipers verbally ripping them to shreds...
calling ppl dyslexic for typing errors, calling new yorkers stupid for trying to talk around tall buildings, telling ppl if you didnt like the carrier its your own fault for dealing with bad customer service,
its cult like.. its scary... -
> Apple tricks Me into buying their phone.
Yes, it's not like the technical specs and demos of the interface were not on the Apple web site prior to launch or you could read a review from David Pogue who had one for weeks on launch day not to mention all the other computer press writing about it for months prior. Hmm. a fool and his money are soon parted.
> AT&T not a very good pick for a service provider,
> coverage and customer service wise.
Based on what evidence? In what areas? Please be more specific and present facts from reputable sources.
> No Keyboard - have to concentrate 200% when typing. > Can't go by feel, can't text and drive.
Yes, hence the TOUCH SCREEN and if you text and drive I certainly hope an officer pulls you over for endangering the life of myself and other motorists, bad example.
> Not compatible with business account?? Lame AT&T,
> can't even support their current customers.
Yes, no business accounts for a consumer device, ha. How is this a shortcoming of the product? Don't you think AT&T might change this later? I'm sure the plans are not set in stone.
- Nice Screen - don't touch it while eating! Just dont touch it at all&
Again, please specify what do you mean by this? I ate a burrito today and used mine no problems.
> no Stereo Blue Tooth. (going backwards right?)
Yet
>Good browser? (they copied the Picsel browser, which >was used for at least a year now for windows mobile.....
The iPhone as a WHOLE is what makes the product unique. It's the browser, with the high-res touch screen that make it a great platform.
- No removable battery.
Good with the bad the specs mentioned this so it should not be a surprise.
>No external Memory. (can't pop out the SD card, put into >a random computer to transfer data, and with the >internet so slow good luck emailing the data.)
True, I mean it's not like the device ships with a dock that transfers everything from the iPhone to the computer where you could e-mail it using a fast DSL or Cable connection from your desktop computer, oh wait it does.
> No Video, not to mention HD video streaming.
This enhances my MOBILE PHONE experience how?
> No Video Conferencing
I owned a Motorola Q and did not have the option of video conferencing. How many PDA phones offer this feature in the US?
> Can't Send Pictures (MMS)
Yet
> No Push mail (forget syncing to exchange servers)
This feature is already being tested and Steve Jobs has said they will deploy the feature shortly (2 months estimated)
> No Voice Command
My Motorola Q had that feature too never worked. This is a preference not a show stopper.
> Can't use Skype on Iphone for VOIP
How many standard phones from Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T offer this? Yeah thats what I thought.
> No Flash
> No Java
Yet
> No send via Bluetooth
Yet and a minimal problem considering the docking station.
> No SDK (web 2.0 is not an SDK)
I think you will find that much application development work is going to be web 2.0 focused. You should see the types of solutions that come out before making your uneducated opinion known.
> No 3rd party apps.
Wrong. Less than 5 days and solutions are all ready in a few months I suspect the big players will have solutions out there.
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/software/top-five-iphone-apps-of-the-moment-273988.php
(You can't install Tom Tom App on it and take it around the world as a full blown GPS with an additional BlueTooth GPS reciever)
What percentage of NORMAL CONSUMERS do you think use BlueTooth GPS, 5%? With most automobiles having that functionality practically standard (see FORD) how useful do you think this will be in a few years?
This is the problem with technical people you only look at a raw feature list. You fail to look at how the device handles. This is why the iPod does so well the experience is seamless. Apple promised a device that has phone +iPod + Web and has delivered. Yes the device has shortcomings like all v1 products but it executes the core promised features well. There will be software updates and these annoying omission will be resolved. -
So.. let me get this straight. You waited in line to buy a $600 product without having any idea of it's features? You can't read? Apple has had iPhone specs posted for many months and the first media reviews where posted Wednesday before the iPhone went on sale. In addition, employees at both Apple and AT&T were available to answer any questions before you parted with your hard earned money.
You're obviously another idiot who has no experience using the iPhone and simply wants to post a negative review and bring down the overall user rating. They're useless because people like you waste time commenting.
