"nice idea but..."
Pros: puts old monitors to use, no need for tv
Cons: cost of tuner higher than average tv
Summary: good project but you can buy a new tv for the price of all the equipment you need to do project.

Jusca completely misses the point here.
My kids have 21 inch CRT TVs in their rooms and I am not going to replace them with an LCD TV and then buy another LCD screen for their computers. There are space, energy and cost considerations here. One high quality 22" monitor and a tuner will set me back under $500. I am paying $150 or so to get a TV - not bad.
One screen with inputs from the PC and a tuner. The PC stays off when they only want to watch TV and I don't have to lose my temper when they are chatting online with the TV on behind them.
What we really need is a version of this with a DVI input.
Where to buy
AVerMedia TVBox 9:
$162.50 - $172.50
